If you have a pet dog, you will encounter
dog health problems from time to time. Adorable as they are, they can still
fall sick or suffer from serious illnesses. In order to take care of them and
prevent the illness from taking a toll, you will have to be able to spot that
something is different with your dog. There are numerous indications, some of
which are subtle and some very obvious.
One of the most common dog health problems is canine allergy. This allergy is
similar to the way allergies are triggered in human beings. This could be
because of dust, pollen, dust mites or many other factors. Dogs can also suffer
from allergic reactions to different types of food or even medication. Some of
the household food items could even lead to food poisoning and you should be
especially wary of that. Such allergies could lead to diarrhea puppy vomiting
and other serious issues. Vomiting, convulsions and seizures could also appear
because of a dog licking up the garage floor or something else that is very
dangerous. This is why you must try to keep the dog tethered while you are not
around or keep an eye out on what it is eating or licking for that matter. In
serious situations, it is god to rush to a veterinary doctor as soon as
possible. Most dog allergies are responses of their immune system to parasites,
molds, food and even plants.
Other dog health problems could include arthritis which is hereditary caused
due to ageing or obesity. Low calcium in the dog's food will lead to broken
bones or other forms of injury which have to be guarded against. Old age and
eye irritants could lead to cataracts which reduce the sense of vision in the
dog.
From time to time dogs suffer from constipation because of dehydration or bowel
obstructions. Two other dog health problems include canine diabetes and canine
epilepsy. The former is caused by the ability of the dog's pancreas to produce
sufficient amounts of insulin. The latter is due to misfired electrical signals
resulting from brain lesions. They could also suffer from hip or elbow dyspepsia which is due to malformation of joints or numerous other hereditary
factors. It is always good to take your dog to the veterinary doctor once in a
while for routine check up, because they cannot really express what is
troubling them.
